Greg had a record store Sold a little bit of everything Metal, indie, and punk rock And he helped young kids to find Something better than what they knew The bands on the fliers on his wall It could have been so much less The kids at 1030 Had folks cooking every Sunday Their living room filled with punks And we talked about punk rock while Chopping celery stalks and Making the soup for Food Not Bombs They could have been doing something else And it blows my mind To see what can transpire When folks come together To try to make just a little bit more Library in Oregon Hill Sitting in the front room of a house Shelves filled to the ceiling with radical texts They'd open the place every week for Neighborhood folks to meet Held community workshops on request They could have done so much less Punk house in Barton Heights Murals on the bricks outside Folks on the porch Guns and scanners in hand Copwatching the police Opening up the community Holding open hours for neighborhood kids They could have done anything else And it blows my mind To see what can transpire When folks come together To try to make just a little bit more And it's inspiring to me To try to be more than me And it lit a fire in me To help folks come together To make something good
